Exploring Western Uruguay (Colonia, Fray Bentos & the Hot Springs, South America (December 2019)

Well off the beaten track, western Uruguay has some great attractions. The ancient city of Colonia and the industrial architecture of the Frey Bentos meat packing factory are both UNESCO sites. There are a variety of hot springs resorts and the pleasant undulating country is green and peaceful.

Exploring Iguazu Falls & the Jesuit Missions: Argentina, Paraguay & Brazil in a 1 Week Circuit (November 2019)

Cheap flights now allow easy access to the magnificent Iguazu Falls in Argentina. We combined them with a loop south along the Parana River to visit the Jesuit missions of Argentina and Paraguay, returning through Brazil to see the other side of the falls.

Having a Whale of a Time – Peninsula Valdes, Chubut, Argentina (November 2017)

The Valdes Peninsula lies on the Atlantic coast of Argentina and is home to large breeding numbers of Southern Right whales and Magellanic penguins, as well as more permanent resident wildlife.  A UNESCO site with easy access, it offers the best marine wildlife viewing in the country.

South with the Eden – Sailing with Navimag from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales, Chile (December 2017)

One of the most interesting ferry routes in the world travels through the fjords of Patagonia, in southern Chile. The three night trip from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales – or vice-versa – has beautiful scenery with a chance to spot some of the elusive wildlife and birds of this remote region.
